Learning to surf in Santa Catalina and meeting cool folks
Here are a few more photos from Santa Catalina. After my Bolivian travel companion left for Costa Rica, I spent five days surfing and getting to know my really friendly hostal-mates at Cabanas Rolos from Norway, England, Switzerland and Germany. By the end of the week I was able to pretty consistently stand up on waves and was starting to be able to get a few of the bigger ones and turn a little. Surfing is pretty addictive as I found myself constantly saying to myself after riding a good wave, "Ok, two more waves and then I'm going to call it a day." Two hours later I was still saying the same thing. Speaking of surfing, if you haven't seen the film Step into Liquid you should...and then you should find a surf board and some waves and give it a try!
